Battery Storage

Capture and store energy for your establishment using a solar PV battery storage solution, ensuring a dependable power supply for your enterprise.

What is commercial battery storage?

Commercial battery storage refers to sizable energy storage units commonly situated outside buildings. These units charge during sunny periods if connected to solar panels, or at night from the grid when energy demands are low.

The batteries' Dynamic Firm Frequency Response (DFFR) oversees the monitoring and discharge of stored energy. Comprised of rechargeable lithium-ion cells, the batteries are housed within smaller packs within the units.

Integrating a battery with solar pv can catalyze a transformation in your organisation's energy management and make your company future proof.

Battery storage can be used to:

  • Energy Backup: Providing a backup power source during outages or emergencies.

  • Load Shifting: Storing excess energy during low-demand periods for later use during peak times.

  • Grid Stabilization: Balancing supply and demand on the grid by releasing stored energy during periods of high demand.

  • Renewable Integration: Storing excess energy generated from renewable sources like solar or wind for use when these sources are unavailable.

  • Peak Shaving: Reducing electricity costs by using stored energy during peak demand periods to avoid higher utility rates.

  • Voltage Support: Helping to maintain stable voltage levels on the grid.

  • Frequency Regulation: Assisting in stabilizing grid frequency by adjusting energy output as needed.

Backup Power

Solar battery energy storage systems offer the capability to supply backup power to your business. Similar to diesel standby generators, they store energy to deploy during power outages and capture surplus energy generation, ensuring continuous operation of your site during supply disruptions, providing peace of mind.

In specific scenarios, your business might gain access to an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), mitigating the brief downtime experienced during the transition to backup solar PV battery storage in conventional systems. Refer to the UPS section below for further details.

Your business can provide grid services, which protect and stabilize the grid during periods of disruption. From this, you can earn an income for offering your solar battery storage to the National Grid.

In grid service mode, you can provide an income to your business by offering the battery to stabilize the National Grid during times of distress.

This process is often accessed through an aggregator, which controls and manages the battery storage system on your behalf to extract revenues by providing grid services to the National Grid through contracts the aggregator secures.
